Dr. Tieken selected as "Texas Super Doctor”!

Our staff at Tieken Smiles are happy to announce Dr. Derek Tieken was recognized as a "Texas Super Doctor" in the December edition of Texas Monthly Magazine. Dr. Tieken was the the only Bay Area dentist recognized this month!

The Super Doctors selection process began in 2004, when a survey was mailed to more than 52,000 Texas physicians, asking them: "To whom would you refer a loved one or one of your patients for medical diagnosis and/or treatment?" After tallying their replies, a research team also identified Texas doctors who had achieved special recognition from their peers or had demonstrated other indications of expertise. The researchers made sure each physician is properly licensed and has no history of disciplinary action.

At Tieken Smiles, we pride ourselves in delivering the highest quality cosmetic dental care, as well as providing patients with accurate information, answers to any questions they may have, and a comfortable, professional, safe environment to receive cosmetic treatments.

Please give us a call today at (832) 769-4824 to schedule a complimentary dental consultation.

With OraVerse, Dr. Tieken can reverse the numbness of anesthesia!

In this week's YourTownTV segment, Dr. Derek Tieken tells us about OraVerse, a new addition to our practice that rapidly reverses the effects of local anesthetic. Thanks to OraVerse, your anesthesia wears off in approximately 30 minutes, instead of the usual 120 minutes. This is great for all our patients who need to get back to work or have important meetings scheduled after their appointment.

This cutting-edge treatment option allows patients to leave our League City office without the unpleasant side affects that can result from anesthesia. Dr. Tieken offers OraVerse at a minimal cost to our patients.

Please give us a call at (832) 769-4824 if you have any questions about OraVerse, or if you would like to schedule your next appointment with Dr. Tieken. See you soon and have a great weekend!

Thanks to Invisalign's clear aligners, parents can have perfect teeth, too!

Hey, moms and dads! Focusing on your kids' teeth and oral health so much that you're neglecting your own? If you've been thinking about having your own set of perfect teeth, Dr. Derek Tieken and our staff can help! We are specially trained to offer an adult-friendly option for straightening teeth called Invisalign.

This course of treatment consists of a set of clear aligners that are molded to fit your teeth. You wear them all day and night, except for meals, brushing, and flossing – when you can easily slip them out to make eating and cleaning a snap!

Because they're clear, your teeth will be steadily straightening – and the best part? No one will know it but you!

Please give us a call at (832) 769-4824 to schedule an appointment, so we can discuss the specifics of Invisalign treatment with you. Happy Friday and have a wonderful weekend!

Dr. Derek Tieken, reminding you September is National Gum Care Month!

At the office of Dr. Derek Tieken, we know that gingivitis, which is the early stage of periodontal disease, can be difficult to recognize if you're not a trained dentist. Many people don't recognize the warning signs - bleeding and swollen gums - as a precursor to periodontal disease, also known as gum disease. This month, a national campaign is under way to raise awareness about gum health and periodontal disease, and we wanted to help do our part to spread the word!

Dr. Tieken and our staff will tell you early recognition and action are the most important steps to health gums, and ultimately a health body, too! Studies are published every year linking oral health, including the gums, to the health of other areas of the body, such as your heart. One of the most important steps to improving the care of your gums is recognizing the warning signs for gum disease.

Our staff knows these can include:

• Gums that appear red or swollen
• Gums that feel tender
• Gums that bleed easily (during brushing or flossing)
• Gums that recede or pull away from the teeth
• Persistent halitosis, or bad breath
• Loose teeth
• Any change in the way teeth come together in the biting position

If you happen to notice any of these signs, please schedule an appointment at our convenient League City office by calling (832) 769-4824 as soon as possible. Dr. Tieken can take proactive steps to prevent gingivitis and gum disease, while showing you how to improve gum care in your daily oral hygiene habits. We hope you have a wonderful weekend!

National Smile Week!

National Smile Week is here, and at J. Derek Tieken DDS, that means the perfect opportunity to enjoy spontaneous moments of silliness all week long. Here are three ways you can enjoy National Smile Week.

• Smile at people throughout the week, whether you know them or not. Believe it or not, smiles are contagious, and are always good to give and to receive. In addition, smiling can actually help you live longer, according to one recent study!

• Stick a love note, funny poem, or a cartoon into your child's lunch sack or your husband’s pocket or briefcase – anywhere where they will find it during the day, read it and smile.

• Practice random acts of generosity while at work – whether it’s a small anonymous gift on a coworker's desk, ordering flowers to your spouse or taking a loved one or coworker out for lunch.

And remember, coming in for regular cleanings and checkups with Dr. Tieken helps you perfect that warm smile.

When should you call Dr. Tieken?

Having to deal with a dental emergency during the summer while at work or on vacation is not something people often think about. And Dr. Tieken will tell you that being prepared can make the difference between saving or losing a tooth. If you're facing a dental emergency this summer, we want you to call us immediately or let us know on our Facebook page. If you need urgent treatment after hours, you can call our emergency number (please ask us for the number if you haven't already done so). We are always here to assist when your dental health is at risk. Below are tips on dealing with urgent dental situations; you may want to display this list on your refrigerator or store it near your emergency phone numbers for easy reference.

Toothache: Rinse your mouth with warm water and inspect your teeth to be sure there is nothing caught between them. If pain continues, use a cold compress to ease the pain. Do not apply heat or any kind of aspirin or topical pain reliever directly to the affected area, as this can cause damage to the gums. Schedule an appointment immediately.

Bitten Lip or Tongue: If you've bitten your lip or tongue severely enough to cause bleeding, clean the bite gently with water and use a cold compress (a cold, wet towel or washcloth pressed firmly against the area) to reduce or avoid swelling. Give us a call to help determine how serious the bite is.

Object Caught In Teeth: If you have something caught between your teeth, use dental floss to gently remove it. Never use a metal, plastic, or sharp tool to remove a stuck object. If you are unable to remove the item with dental floss, give us a call.

Broken, Chipped, or Fractured Tooth: If you've chipped or broken a piece off of your tooth, rinse your mouth with warm water, then use a cold compress to reduce swelling. Try to locate and save the tooth fragment that broke off. Call us immediately.

Knocked Out Tooth: If your tooth has been knocked out, find the tooth and rinse it with water (no soap), taking care to only touch the crown of the tooth (the part you can see when it's in place). If you can, place the tooth back in its socket and hold it in place with a clean towel or cloth. If you can't return the tooth to its socket, place it in a clean container with milk. In either case, call us immediately and/or head to the nearest hospital. If you act quickly, it's possible to save the tooth.

Loose Tooth: If you have a loose tooth, it should be removed to avoid being swallowed or inhaled. And, you probably guessed it: give us a call.

We hope that helped you get prepared for any dental emergency this summer, and we wish you a GREAT rest of the summer!

Invisalign and your oral health

When considering treatment options, patients often ask Dr. Derek Tieken how Invisalign treatment is so different than getting braces at an orthodontist's office. Well, there are more reasons to smile about Invisalign than you may know. Invisalign, which is a series of removable aligners that are nearly invisible, manages to straighten your teeth just as effectively as traditional braces ... and improves your oral health. Here’s how Invisalign can help improve your health, while shaping your healthy, beautiful smile:

Healthy gums: Straight teeth allow a close fit for gums. This lessens the gum stress that is caused by crowded or widely spaced teeth, thus also reducing red and swollen gums.

Easy cleaning: Invisalign is removable, therefore brushing and flossing is easier and you are able to maintain a healthy mouth. These habits are vital to avoiding tooth decay, plaque, and gum disease.

Improved speech and chewing: Properly-aligned teeth don’t have the discomfort or compound speech impediments that can be caused by crowded teeth or a deteriorating jawbone.

If you have any questions about Invisalign, just ask Dr. Tieken the next time you’re in for a visit. Or, you may post your question on our Facebook page or give us a call at (832) 769-4824!

Happy Thursday!

What's on your summer reading list?

With summer here, some of us at Dr. Tieken's office have been thinking increasingly about the importance of reading. Sure it’s easy to keep putting off reading, but reading during the summer is a vital step in brain development - and it's fun!

Share your Fourth of July plans with us!

This upcoming Sunday - which happens to be Independence Day, of course - Dr. Derek Tieken and our staff will celebrate our nation's 234th birthday. For most folks, the Fourth of July is a chance to celebrate and commemorate America's Declaration of Independence. Today, we thought we'd ask: what are your Fourth of July weekend plans? Are you heading to a barbecue? A picnic? Hitting the open road with family? Having fun in the sun?

Whatever you might be doing over Independence Day weekend, our entire staff hope you have a great week and a safe and happy Fourth of July weekend! Feel free to post your Independence Day photos on our Facebook page!

Patient question: what is CEREC® and can I benefit from it?

CEREC® is a technology for restoring damaged teeth, and this restoration can be completed in a single visit to Tieken Smiles. It makes your teeth stronger and more beautiful, all while keeping your teeth looking natural. The restoration is metal-free and the high-grade ceramic material is compatible with the natural tissue found in your mouth. This is the finest restorative material available today, all in one appointment.

CEREC® 3D uses CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing) technology, incorporating a camera, computer and milling machine in one instrument. Dr. Tieken uses a special camera to take an accurate picture of the damaged tooth. This optical impression is transferred and displayed on a color computer screen, where the dentist uses CAD technology to design the restoration. Then CAM takes over and automatically creates the restoration while the patient waits. Finally, the dentist bonds the new restoration to the surface of the old tooth. The whole process takes about one hour!

Dr. Derek Tieken is your local CEREC dentist for single-visit tooth restorations in League City, Webster, Kemah and the greater Houston area. Give us a call today to schedule an appointment!

Smile, it's June! From Dr. Tieken

Not too long ago, the American Dental Association discovered that a person's smile was important than their eyes, hair and body as the most important physical feature. That's no surprise to us, considering how much people spend each year on general and cosmetic dentistry annually.

That brings us to June, also known as National Smile Month! It's a great time for Dr. Tieken to remind all of our patients to practice good oral hygiene between your visits to Tieken Smiles.

Here are a few simple steps you can take to improve your oral health so that you may celebrate National Smile Month for many, many years to come:

* Brush at least twice a day with fluoride toothpaste.
* Floss everyday to clean between your teeth.
* Reduce your intake of sugary foods and drinks.
* Visit Tieken Smiles regularly (usually every six months unless recommended otherwise).

If you have questions about any of these tips, we encourage you to give us a call at (832) 769-4824. We hope you have a great rest of the week! Get out there and share your beautiful smiles!

Ask Dr. Tieken: How do I prevent gum disease?

Dr. Derek Tieken will tell you it’s easy to tell when you have a cavity; but unfortunately, gum disease can exist in your mouth without you even knowing. In fact, you can have the beginning stages of gum disease without noticing any pain or discomfort. Since gum disease can be undetectable, Dr. Tieken says it’s important to watch for warning signs in order to prevent the disease from worsening!

Here are some warning signs to watch for:

• Gums that appear red or swollen
• Gums that feel tender
• Gums that bleed easily (during brushing or flossing)
• Gums that recede or pull away from the teeth
• Persistent bad breath, or halitosis
• Loose teeth
• Any change in the way teeth come together in the biting position

If you or someone in your family is showing these signs, schedule an appointment with our office right away by calling (832) 769-4824. Dr. Tieken and staff can diagnose the problem and begin treatment to save your teeth and give you back a healthy mouth!

We hope you had a restful Memorial Day weekend! Enjoy the rest of your week!

Thursday, May 27, 2010

Dr. Tieken and team, wishing you a pleasant, safe and relaxing Memorial Day weekend!

The unofficial kickoff to summer—Memorial Day weekend—is two days away, and that means it's a time for Americans to remember all those who bravely fought and gave their lives for our country over the years.

For many folks here in League City, Kemah and surrounding communities, getting out of town for three days after being cooped up in the classroom or office is sweet relief. At the office of Dr. Derek Tieken, we know Memorial Day weekend is ripe for travel. After all, Memorial Day means a season full of vacations, adventures and great memories is on the way.

What about you? What are you up to this Memorial Day weekend? Whether you're headed to a barbecue, a camping trip, or just hitting the great open roads of Texas, Dr. Tieken and our entire team would like to hear all about it!

We hope you have a safe and relaxing weekend!

Burning Invisalign® questions with Dr. Tieken

We've discussed our Invisalign treatment in the past, today thought we'd answer some questions about Invisalign, the clear aligners that so many patients choose for their teeth-straightening treatment. Feel free to post your own question and we'll try to have an answer for you!

How exactly, Dr. Tieken, does Invisalign treatment work?

Using 3-D computer imaging technology, Invisalign creates a series of custom-made, clear aligners exclusively for your teeth, based on the treatment plan that we specify for you. Each aligner moves teeth incrementally and is worn for about two weeks, then replaced by the next in the series until the final position is achieved.

Will I experience any pain during treatment?

Most people experience temporary discomfort for a few days after a new aligner is placed. This feeling of pressure is normal and is a sign that Invisalign is working by sequentially moving your teeth to their final destination.

Can other people see that I'm in treatment?

One of the benefits of Invisalign is that the aligners are clear - you can straighten your teeth without anyone knowing!

Are there any foods I shouldn't eat while in treatment?

You can eat normally during the entire course of treatment. One of the advantages of Invisalign is that the aligners are removable. Simply take the aligners out before each meal, brush when you're finished eating, then reinsert the aligners afterward.

What about bubble gum?

We recommend removing your aligners for all meals and snacks, as gum and other chewy substances can stick to the aligners.

How often must I wear my aligners?

Aligners should be worn all day, except when eating, brushing, and flossing.

Will my speech be affected by the aligners?

As with any orthodontic treatment, aligners may temporarily affect your speech. If this does happen, your tongue will adjust within a day or two and your speech should return to normal.

How do I clean my aligners?

The best way to clean your aligners is by brushing and rinsing them in lukewarm water.

How often must I visit Dr. Tieken during treatment?

For most patients, visits every 4-6 weeks are frequent enough for us to determine that your treatment is progressing properly. Dr. Tieken will provide you with a specific schedule that supports your individual treatment plan. Please give us a call at (832) 769-4824 for more info on Invisalign!

Oral cancer screening with VELscope® at J. Derek Tieken DDS

In our continuing efforts to provide the most advanced technology and highest quality dental care, the office of J. Derek Tieken is proud to include the VELscope® Oral Cancer Screening System as an integral part of our comprehensive oral cancer screening program. Every hour of every day in the United States someone dies of oral cancer, which is the sixth most common diagnosed form of the disease. The 5-year survival rate is only 50 percent, and oral cancer is one of the few cancers whose survival rate has not improved.

But there's a revolutionary device that provides Dr. Tieken with an easy-to-use oral examination system for the early detection of abnormal soft tissue. Clinical studies have determined that using VELscope after the standard oral cancer examination improves the dentist's ability to identify, evaluate and monitor suspicious areas at their earliest stages. Early detection of pre-cancerous tissue can minimize or eliminate the potentially disfiguring effects of oral cancer and possibly save your life.

So, how does it work? VELscope emits a safe blue light into your mouth, which causes the tissue to appear different colours through the viewfinder. This allows Dr. Tieken to tell the difference between normal and abnormal tissue. Best of all, the procedure is quick, painless and potentially life-saving. Ask Dr. Tieken about a screening at your next appointment!

Happy Monday!

Oh no! Houston makes the ‘14 worst-teeth cities’ list!

What makes for a beautiful smile? Dr. Tieken and our staff will tell you regular dental visits, brushing and flossing, not smoking, minimizing your intake of soda and coffee, among other things, will maximize your chances of achieving optimal oral health. In 2009, TotalBeauty released their list of the “14 Worst-Teeth Cities,” and our team at J. Derek Tieken DDS is sad to report Houston was chosen among the fourteen.

Here’s an excerpt from the article: "Houston residents drink more cola than anywhere else in the country. That plus their ranking of no. 49 in dental visits and no. 41 in dentists per capita doesn't bode well for healthy teeth. Their hard water can also contribute to stains and their ranking as no. 6 in fattest cities means their teeth and gums may be lacking in nutrients and circulation as well."

Have you been perfecting your smile by visiting J. Derek Tieken DDS on a regular basis? If not, it’s time to schedule an appointment! And don’t forget the old dental saying: “Be true to your teeth or they’ll be false to you!”

Ask Dr. Tieken: How do my gums affect my heart?

Believe it or not, an estimated 80 percent of American adults currently have some form of gum disease. Periodontal diseases range from simple gum inflammation to serious disease that result in major damage to the soft tissue and bone that support the teeth. In gingivitis, the milder form of gum disease, infection leads to chronic inflammation—gums are swollen, red, and sometimes bleeding. In the worst of cases, teeth are lost.

We know that gum disease is a threat to your oral health, but research is also pointing to health effects of periodontal diseases that go well beyond your mouth. Recently, our staff at Tieken Smiles read an article that reported a study that indicated an association between gum disease and heart disease.

In a recent report published in the Journal of Clinical Periodontology, researchers found that the more severe the gum disease, the thicker and harder the walls of your arteries are. We encourage you to check out the rest of the article for tips on how to improve your overall oral health. If you have any questions, please give us a call and we'll answer any concerns you may have!

Smile, smile and smile some more!

Good news to report this Wednesday afternoon! People with big, happy smiles may actually out-live those who don’t, according to a new study at Wayne State University in Michigan. Dr. Derek Tieken has known for a long time that positive emotion has been linked to both physical and mental health, but researchers at the university did something quite interesting: they used information from the Baseball Register to look at photos of 230 players who began their baseball careers prior to 1950 and studied their smile intensity (wide smile, no smile or partial smile). The players' smile ratings were then compared with data from deaths that occurred from 2006 through last year.

The researchers then took into account other factors associated with longevity, such as body mass index, or BMI, career length and college attendance. They found that players who weren't smiling died at the average age of 72.9 years. Players with partial smiles lived to be 75. Those with big smiles, however, lived on average to be 79.9 years old!

The take-away from the new study? Smile now, smile often and you might just live longer! Have you tried perfecting your smile by visiting Dr. Tieken lately? If not, give our team a call today at (832) 769-4824.

March is National Nutrition Month! From J. Derek Tieken DDS

Before we forget about March and jump into April, our team, as well as Dr. Tieken, would like to remind that we celebrated March for one reason: National Nutrition Month. Every March, Dr. Tieken and thousands of dentists and hygienists around the nation celebrate this occasion, and this year was no different. This spring, we want you to think diabetes, obesity and periodontal disease, and how healthful eating and physical activity may improve periodontal health.

Dr. Tieken and team know small changes really can make a big difference, and the American Dietetic Association (ADA) has some advice on ways to start improving your diet this spring:

Focus on fresh fruits and veggies: Add a serving each day to one meal and increase it every few weeks. Adding more of these foods into your diet is important whether you buy frozen, fresh or organic.

Think fresh, think local: From farmer’s markets to community-supported agriculture, you have many options to find new, fresh foods in League City and Houston.

Make each of your calories count: When you are choosing between options, focus instead on the one with more of the vitamins and nutrients that you need. Sometimes, foods with fewer calories aren’t always the healthiest options.

Don't give in: If you have a sweet tooth, have fruit and yogurt for dessert. If you crave a snack in the afternoon, enjoy some trail mix or nuts.

Expand your horizons: Try a fish you’ve never eaten before or find a new vegetable recipe. By testing yourself, you might find new healthy favorites to add to your regular grocery list.

If you have additional questions about periodontal disease or keeping yourself and your mouth healthy, please give us a call at (832) 769-4824!

Dairy, your diet and periodontal disease, from Dr. Tieken

Dr. Derek Tieken wants to know: is dairy a major part of your diet? If not, it should be. A 2008 study from the American Academy of Periodontology (AAP) has found that regular consumption of dairy products, such as milk, cheese and yogurt, can lower your chances of contracting periodontal disease (also known as gum disease).

Gum disease is caused by a bacterial infection in the mouth that affects the gums and jaw, resulting in a loss of teeth and bone. Gum disease has been connected to certain cases of heart disease, stroke, diabetes, respiratory disease and osteoporosis.

Results of the study showed that adults who consume at least 55 grams of lactic acid a day are less at risk for gum disease. Eating dairy is not just healthy for building strong bones, but is essential for maintaining a strong, healthy mouth. Next time you reach for a quick snack, choose some cheese, or a glass of milk, and remember with each bite, and every sip you are preserving your teeth for a lifetime of smiles and good oral health!

For more information about keeping your teeth healthy, please give Dr. Tieken and team a call at (832) 769-4824.

J. Derek Tieken DDS, supporting National Children's Dental Health Month

Remember last week, when we blogged about February being American Heart Month? Well, February is also well-known for being National Children's Dental Health Month. Today, Dr. Tieken is here to tell you about the need for preventative oral care in kids.

For 60 Februaries, the American Dental Association, or ADA, has sponsored National Children's Dental Health Month to raise awareness about the importance of oral health. National Children's Dental Health Month began as a one-day event in 1941 in a Cleveland clinic. Forty years later, in 1981, the program was extended to a month-long celebration known today as National Children’s Dental Health Month.

Each February, Dr. Tieken and thousands of dental professionals focus on the preventive oral care of America's kids. Dr. Tieken and our staff want you to remember developing good habits at an early age and scheduling regular dental visits helps children get a good start on a lifetime of healthy teeth and gums. Has your child visited our office the past six months? If not, it’s time to give us a call and schedule an appointment!

February is Heart Month, from Dr. Tieken

Did you know February is Heart Month? It’s a great time to take notice of the health of your heart, says Dr. Tieken. Cardiovascular disease remains American's number one killer, claiming more lives than the rest of major causes of death, according to the American Heart Association. Studies have shown a correlation between gum disease and heart disease, underscoring the importance of good oral health care.

Visiting our office regularly can help prevent gum disease or at least catch it in its early stages. And because people with dental insurance are more likely to visit their dentist when they should, a healthy mouth begins with a visit to the office of J. Derek Tieken. In observance of Heart Month, Dr. Tieken says it’s also important to know your numbers: blood pressure (less than 120/80), cholesterol (less than 200) and BMI (less than 25). If you have any questions about heart health, or about your treatment at our office, please give us a call today.

Tackling sports injuries with Dr. Tieken

Dr. Tieken and our team know how important it is to protect your face. The spring and summer months bring an increase in outdoor activities and a greater chance of damaging your precious mouth and pearly whites.

That’s why we are doing our part to spread the word that facial sports injuries can be avoided simply by reminding yourself or your kids to wear mouth guards. Ask us—Dr. Tieken may recommend the best mouth guard for you.

In addition, here are a few tips for keeping yourself and your kids safe on the field. Remind them to:

• Wear mouth guards during contact sports
• Wear a helmet
• Stretch before and after a game or practice
• Wear protective eye wear
• Wear a face shield to avoid scratched or bruised skin
• Be observant—even as a spectator

All of these can reduce injuries. Only by using a mouth guard and other forms of facial protection can you avoid serious sports injuries. Give us a call if you have any questions about mouth guards or your treatment at J. Derek Tieken, DDS.

Talking cavities, with Dr. Tieken

Dr. Tieken knows one word nobody wants to hear when they visit the dentist is "Cavity"! That’s right, the dreaded cavity; but what exactly is a cavity and how do they happen? A cavity is a hole that develops in a tooth when the tooth begins to decay. It’s important to get a cavity filled as soon as it’s detected so that it does not grow bigger.

So, what causes a cavity you ask? A cavity is caused by plaque, a sticky substance that forms on the tooth as a result of germ and bacteria build-up. Plaque is acidic and as it clings to your teeth the acids eat away the outside of the tooth (also called the enamel) and a hole is formed.

The best prevention for cavities is regular checkups with Dr. Tieken and proper oral hygiene, including brushing and flossing. A regular checkup with Dr. Tieken consists of a thorough cleaning, polishing, and an oral exam by the doctor. During the oral exam, the doctor checks the health of your mouth, teeth, gums, cheeks, and tongue. At each visit, Dr. Tieken also checks old fillings and restorations because constant pressure from chewing, grinding, or clenching can cause them to wear away, chip, or crack. Digital X-rays will also be taken to pinpoint the cavities and to help determine the best treatment options.

If you have any questions about cavities, or to schedule an appointment at our office, please feel free to give us a call.

Enjoy your weekend, everybody.

Helpful Invisalign® tips from Dr. Tieken

The team at Tieken Smiles has blogged about the advantage of Invisalign treatment in the past, and today thought we'd share a few helpful Invisalign tips.

When wearing your Invisalign aligners, Dr. Tieken wants you to ask yourself the following questions:

1. Am I eating with my aligners on? - These aligners are removable and should be taken out when you eat.

2. Am I drinking anything other than water with my aligners on? - Though it's not a necessity for you to take out your aligners while you drink, think about how sticky a soda is. If you take out your aligners when drinking a soda, you have a better chance of keeping your aligners clean.

3. Am I brushing before putting the trays on? - The aligners have both an inside and outside. Keeping the outside clean is easy. Keeping the inside clean is also easy: just make sure you've brushed your teeth before putting the trays on.

These are all very simple steps, and ultimately, they help to keep you building good oral habits. If you have any questions about Invisalign or your treatment at our office, please feel free to give us a call!

Also, a quick reminder: we will be having another Invisalign Special Event in November. Dr. Tieken will be providing Invisalign treatment consultations to answer your questions about Invisalign treatment, the clear way to straighten teeth.
